Privacy Policy — English Fixer

What we process

• Text you choose to fix: only the text you type into the popup, or the text you highlight and send with the right-click menu. The extension never reads pages on its own.
• An anonymous install ID: a random identifier created on install. It is used only to count free daily usage when the hosted service is enabled, and it is not linked to your identity.

Where your text goes

• On-device mode (default): your text is processed by Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) on your own computer. It is not sent anywhere.
• Your-own-key mode: your text is sent directly from your browser to the Google Gemini API using your key. It never passes through our servers. See the Gemini API Terms and the Google Privacy Policy.
• "Send to ChatGPT / Gemini" buttons: only when you click one, a new tab opens to chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com with your text in the prompt (for Gemini, the prompt is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it). From then on, OpenAI or Google handles the text under your own account and their privacy policies.
• Hosted service (when available): your text is sent over HTTPS to our server, which forwards it to the Google Gemini API. The server does not store or log your text. It keeps only a daily usage counter per install ID, which expires after 48 hours.

Stored on your device

• Your settings (mode and default tone), stored in Chrome sync storage.
• Your Gemini API key (if you add one) and the install ID, stored in Chrome local storage. Your key is sent only to Google.

What we never do

• Sell your data, or share it with anyone other than the AI provider you choose.
• Use analytics, ads or tracking.
• Collect browsing history, names, email addresses or other personal information.
